About the role

Imperial College London – one of the world’s top universities for research and teaching – invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Digital Electronics and an Assistant Professor position in Biomedical Electronics as part of the strategic growth of the Circuits and Systems (CAS) Research Group within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The Circuits & Systems (CAS) Research Group at Imperial College London advances electronic circuits, systems, and sensors across the full stack from ultra-low-power analogue / digital / mixed-signal ICs and intelligent sensing to reconfigurable / FPGA platforms, formal methods for reliable digital design, and novel device and memory technologies for neuromorphic and edge-AI computing. Our impact spans multiple sectors, including semiconductors and computing, communications and networking, energy and power systems, robotics and autonomous platforms, finance and security, healthcare and life sciences, and the built environment – wherever efficient, trustworthy, and scalable hardware is critical. We work in close partnership with academic, clinical and industrial collaborators to translate fundamental advances into real-world solutions.

For Biomedical Electronics, the Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology is internationally recognised for pioneering research in biomedical electronics, circuits, and systems, and plays a leading role in developing next-generation technologies to improve healthcare and well-being from point-of-care lab-on-chip diagnostics for infection detection, to ultra-low-power wearable systems for sleep monitoring, radar-based remote sensing for physiological observation, and implantable neural interfaces for bioelectronic therapies. With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and translational research, the Centre works closely with stakeholders at all levels including patients, clinicians, hospitals, and industry to co-develop impactful solutions that address real-world medical needs. Its innovations have led to successful spinouts, clinical deployments, and commercial products, and continue to shape both practice and policy.
