We are seeking a highly motivated and Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist with relevant experience in biochemistry, immunology and structural biology to interrogate the peptide loading and binding requirements of non-classical MHC proteins.
You will be working collaboratively alongside an existing team to support new studies currently centred on HLA-E peptide binding biochemistry. You will establish and maintain a good understanding of the research field by reading key reviews and research articles. Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles, and you will regularly write research articles at a national level for peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and reviews. Present papers at national conferences, and lead seminars to disseminate research findings. You will also develop research questions within a specific context, conduct individual research, analysing detailed and complex qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, and generate original ideas by building on existing concepts.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biophysics that involved working on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins, along with clear evidence of working with MHC and the peptide editor tapasin and demonstrable evidence and strong expertise using the technique of Hydrogen-Deuterium exchange Mass Spectrometry to study MHC proteins. You will have demonstrable evidence (e.g. through publication) and strong expertise of working with MHC peptide binding assays using the technique of Fluorescent Polarisation. Evidence of involvement in grant applications is highly desirable.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
