About the role

This role will be a senior institutional lead for developing and implementing a King’s approach to ensuring staff are supported in embedding AI appropriately in their teaching and assessment. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with appropriate experience for the post of Senior Lecturer on the King’s Academic Education Pathway (AEP) with a focus on the use of AI in Higher Education. 

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop in a leadership role, and who wish to utilise their skills and expertise in AI best practice. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in policy and strategy development in key areas such academic integrity and the use of AI, opportunities to improve practice through the ethical use of AI and horizon scanning to ensure King’s stays at the forefront of AI best practice.  

We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role. 

Bring leadership and strategic direction to ensure the effective development of a coherent and forward-thinking approach to ethically embedding AI in teaching and assessment.  

The key responsibilities will be to

  • Work closely with the Academic Director of King’s Academy to ensure alignment with the King’s Academy strategic priorities  
  • Work closely with the King’s Academy lead for Assessment and the King’s Academy TASK implementation lead to ensure that modules and programmes are adopting approaches to AI that reflect best practice in the sector. 
  • Work with a range of KCL professional services teams to build full engagement and participation in delivering change in the way in which AI is used and academic conduct issues are overseen.  
  • Drawing on own professional experience, provide advice and guidance to senior staff (including Vice-Deans Education) and to KCL committees on issues relating to AI 
  • Supporting the training, mentoring, development and career progression of colleagues in the function  
  • Support Education Leadership and Scholarship initiatives as well as the TASK (Transforming Assessment for Students at King’s) project 

Please note as part of King’s Academy hybrid working policy, the candidate will be expected to work on campus 60% of the time.

The role is primarily based at King’s JCMB Campus though you will be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. As part of King’s hybrid working policy, all team members are expected to work on campus for 40-60% of their time.  At King’s Academy there is an expectation to be on campus 60% of the time, and we would be happy to consider flexible working arrangements should this be required.  

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, offered on an indefinite Academic Education Pathway contract.
