The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the study of Islam within the School of School of Critical Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by contributing to teaching, assessment and administration processes associated with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and undertake scholarship to enhance learning and teaching in Theology and Religious Studies within the School of Critical Studies. Specifically, the post holder will deliver teaching relating to the study of Islam, either in its contemporary or historical context.
Applications are welcome from candidates with a background in any discipline related to the study of Islam, including theology and religious studies, history, sociology, cultural studies, literature, anthropology, philosophy, and area studies.
This post is part-time (17.5 hours per week), and open ended with funding available for up to 30th May 2027 in the first instance (with an anticipated start date of 5th January 2026).
