The Opportunity:
We're looking for a Communication and Engagement Officer who's passionate about engaging different audiences about the value of environmental science to address real world problems.
In this role, you'll develop resources for sharing between organisations, organise inclusive events and workshops, and embed equity, diversity and inclusion into everything you do. You'll work closely with researchers and community partners creating different media that showcase opportunities to work in a range of sectors utilising environmental science that can lead to a career with real world impact.
You'll be confident managing multiple priorities, building relationships, and delivering a range of media outputs to match project deadlines. You'll bring strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to working in new ways.

The Communication and Engagement Officer will work directly with colleagues and partners from the Centre for Adapting to Changing Environments (https://environmentalchange.ed.ac.uk/). Working with our wide range of partners (https://environmentalchange.ed.ac.uk/partners-and-collaborators ) the role works closely with colleagues to ensure that our engagement is effective, inclusive and has reach.
This role is open to external candidates and also to internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role or studies in the University.
Working pattern: This is a part-time fixed term role offered at 60% FTE for 5 months but we are open to discussing other working arrangements that will deliver the initial project goals by 31st March 2026 including a shorter full-time position or job share arrangements.
The salary for this post is £23,414 - £25,448 per annum.
