Job description:

Are you an IT professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for asset management? We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Asset Management Analyst to join our innovative IT Services team at the University of Sheffield on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

About You

You'll have IT qualifications or demonstrable experience in asset management, with hands-on expertise using service management tools like ServiceNow or TOPdesk. Your Excel skills are exceptional, and you're comfortable manipulating large datasets to extract meaningful insights with meticulous attention to detail.

You understand IT systems, including remote access, license servers, agent deployment, automation, and cloud services. Most importantly, you're an excellent communicator who can engage with stakeholders at all levels, solve complex problems, and see the bigger picture while maintaining accuracy in everything you do.

The Role

As our IT Asset Management Analyst, you'll be the technical owner and main contact for our asset repository and Software Asset Management tools. You'll manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets across the university, maintaining our CMDB using ServiceNow, SCCM, and TOPdesk.

This is a varied role where you'll provide critical data and reporting to business functions, work with product teams to implement starter and leaver processes, and identify opportunities for license optimisation. You'll ensure accuracy across our asset database while driving continual improvement in our ITAM function. Your analytical insights will directly shape IT decision-making and help us manage risk, costs, and compliance effectively.
