This post will be based at the University of Lincoln’s Maritime Studies Centre at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, Devon.
The University of Lincoln is the Higher Education partner in the Team Fisher consortium which is tasked with delivering and modernising Royal Navy training and education through ‘Project Selborne’. A key part of the University’s role is to deliver education in core academic disciplines, arts and science, to UK and international naval officers IN training at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC). These subjects are delivered within the associated professional pathways for officers and, in many cases, lead to the award of Level 5 and Level 6 qualifications.
As the International Programme Manager, you will be responsible for a new BSc (Honours) in Maritime Studies to be delivered to up to 20 International Naval Officers each year from January 2028. Reporting to the Director of Academic Studies, you will lead the development and validation of this 28 month programme against the endorsed module structures with the support of academic colleagues and the Selborne Project and Quality team. The role will become responsible for Programme Managing the delivery and effectiveness of the programme and associated student support. You will also be expected to teach on modules of the programme according to your area of expertise.
The University is seeking to appoint an academic leader who will work closely with colleagues to develop and deliver a strategically important Honours programme for international naval officers on behalf of Team Fisher and the Royal Navy. You will have some experience in change and HE project / programme management. You will have strong communication and management skills, and emotional intelligence, to be able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and different cultures. You will have subject matter expertise in one or more of the taught disciplines: Meteorology and Ocean Sciences; Study Skills; Marine Science; Marine Technology; Navigation; Mathematics; International Affairs; and Maritime Strategy.
You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline. A post-graduate qualification or equivalent in Higher Education or Teaching and Learning is desirable and if not possessed you will be supported in achieving Higher Education Association (HEA) status.
The first round of interviews for this post will be conducted via MS Teams on 18th November 2025, followed by a second round of interviews that, may be held in person, at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth on 25th November 2025.
