About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-organised Research Grants Officer to provide a professional support service on a portfolio of research awards within the Faculty of Medicine. This varied and interesting role will focus on providing efficient, proactive support in the administration of research awards, including keeping robust reconciliations, produce accurate financial statements, and administer regular account reviews to maintain a high level of service to our internal and external customers.
What you would be doing:
You will be a pro-active grants officer and have ownership for a portfolio of research grants and contract agreements for a wide range of funders. You will use our internal claims report management system which uses Power BI and SharePoint, as well as manage other research grant routines and procedures.
Accurately calculate and transfer overheads, indirect and estates costs to Departments and Faculty using the appropriate methodology.
Download, interpret and manipulate systems-based financial data for internal and external customers.
Prepare and complete basic and complex financial statements for sign off by your line manager.
Review post award monthly exception reports on a regular basis and take the appropriate remedial action to ensure the accuracy of data is maintained.
What we are looking for:
You will be a numerate financial administrator with experience in financial management, claiming and invoicing, ideally within the Higher Education or NHS Sector. You will have solid understanding of TRAC and FEC methodologies. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to form effective working relationships with staff at all levels within and outside the College.
You will work closely with colleagues in the Joint Research Office, People Function, Finance, and the central Research Office to effectively resolve administrative issues.
You will be responsible for ensuring that data is accurate, up-to-date, and complete, and to observe and comply with all College policies and regulations.
