Hours: Part Time

St Catherine’s College proposes to appoint a 4.5-hour College Stipendiary Lecturer in Economics, for a fixed term from 1 January 2026 until 30 September 2026, with the possibility of renewal (in the first instance, as a fixed term 3-hour Stipendiary Lectureship during the next academic year).

The Lecturer will be expected to teach 4.5 weighted hours a week averaged over Hilary and Trinity terms 2026 (the College operates a weighting system whereby hours spent teaching groups larger than one person count for more than one hour). The post-holder will be responsible for teaching Prelims Macroeconomics (first-year course) and FHS Macroeconomics (second-year course), in addition to providing revision classes in Core Macroeconomics to third-year students. In addition, with Mr Andrew Elliott as the College’s Director of Studies in Economics, the post-holder will be expected to play a full role in the running of Economics in the College, including participating in the admissions process, setting and marking College examinations, and taking a role in the pastoral care of undergraduates. If renewed for a further year, the post would revert to a 3-hour lectureship running for the full academic year. Informal enquiries about the tutorial teaching requirements may be made to the Director of Studies for Economics, Mr Andrew Elliott (email: andrew.elliott@stcatz.ox.ac.uk) or the Acting Academic Registrar, Dr Ben Skipp (academic.registrar@stcatz.ox.ac.uk).

Renumeration will be pro rata on the Senior Tutors’ Committee scale for Stipendiary Lecturers and is pensionable. The current rate for a 4.5-hour Stipendiary Lecturer is £12,679 per annum[1]. The hours which the Lecturer teaches in excess of 4.5 hours per week will be paid at the Senior Tutors’ Committee rates (currently £33.50 per hour), with payment due being calculated at the end of each academic year. Teaching/seminar rooms are available for booking within College.
