This role is based in the Abdus Salam Library, South Kensington campus (hybrid role).

Frequent travel to other medical campuses is required.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) on a permanent contract.

About the role:

Would you like to lead a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced NHS Library Team? If so, you could be our next NHS Liaison and Evidence Services Manager.  You will lead on strategic and operational management of our NHS Library services, delivered to five local NHS Trusts.

What you would be doing:

You will use their professional expertise and strong management skills to drive improvements in our NHS library services with the aim of making them business critical and integrated into our partner organisations decision making processes.

The NHS Liaison and Evidence Services Manager will be a key point of contact for senior level liaison with stakeholders in our partner trusts and will use those relationships and the networks that they develop to understand the knowledge and evidence needs of our partner organisations.

The postholder will oversee the delivery of the full range of NHS library and evidence services including the development of a programme of health and information literacy training; evidence search services, current awareness and knowledge mobilisation services. 

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced healthcare librarian with good management experience and a positive attitude to drive innovation and growth in our service. 

Personal specification

  1. Substantial experience in delivering health library services within a higher education or healthcare environment.
  2. Substantial experience of planning and delivering programmes of information and health literacy training.
  3. Proven competence and experience of successfully managing staff in a service orientated environment, including staff training and development and performance management.
  4. Demonstratable experience of delivering innovative service development and improvement initiatives based on user and organisational needs.
  5. A good working knowledge of healthcare policy, its aims and its implications for public sector health library provision in England.
  6. Understanding and awareness of current and emerging teaching and learning practices.
  7. Evidence of proven strong advocacy and influencing skills and an ability to interact and build working relationships with a wide range of people in order to promote and champion Library Services.
  8. Excellent team management skills with evidence of the ability to manage and motivate a team to delivery multiple work streams to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
  9. Strong IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications including a good working knowledge of Excel (charts/formulas/data manipulation); Virtual Learning Environments and cloud storage platforms for online dissemination of content
