About the role - this role will assist the other members of the tax team in ensuring the university complies with both domestic and international taxation legislation and makes appropriate timely reports and payments to tax authorities. The role will focus mainly on compliance with VAT law and customs law.
About the team - the team consists of three subject matter leads, each specialising in a particular area of tax (VAT, Customs and Employment Taxes). They are all supported by the Senior Tax Assistant. One Tax Assistant supports the Employment Tax Manager and one Tax Assistant (this role) supports the VAT Manager and Customs Compliance Manager.
About you - a basic knowledge of UK VAT law is essential and a basic knowledge of customs law or experience of making customs declarations is desirable but full ‘on the job training’ will be given. It is essential that you are a good communicator, both orally and in writing, with a willingness to learn and develop your tax knowledge.
