About the School/Service
The Legal & Governance Service plays a critical role in ensuring the University of East London meets its regulatory obligations while supporting a safe, inclusive, and compliant environment for students and staff. The service works across academic schools and professional teams to uphold legal standards, manage risk, and deliver strategic initiatives that support the university’s mission and values.

The Immigration Compliance team sits within this service and is responsible for maintaining UEL’s Student Sponsor Licence, ensuring compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations, and supporting international students throughout their journey.

About the Job
This role leads the day-to-day operations of the International Compliance team, coordinating institutional responses to UKVI sponsor duties and managing complex immigration casework. You’ll oversee systems and processes that support visa compliance, including attendance monitoring, document checks, and CAS issuance, while advising staff and students on immigration matters.

You’ll also contribute to sector best practice through engagement with external networks such as UKCISA and the International Compliance Network, and support the development of initiatives that enhance UEL’s international compliance framework.

About Us
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Joining Legal & Governance means becoming part of a team that values integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We offer a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and where your work will have a direct impact on student success and institutional reputation.

About You
You’ll bring significant experience in immigration compliance, ideally within higher education, and be confident working at OISC Level 2. You’ll have a strong grasp of UK immigration rules and the ability to interpret complex legislation and guidance. You’ll be a proactive problem-solver, skilled in managing sensitive casework, and comfortable leading a team and coordinating across departments.

If you’re passionate about supporting international students and ensuring regulatory excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
