Salary: £48,822 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent

Closes: 26th November 2025
Job Ref: ATS1330

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Midwifery to join the School of Health Sciences to deliver lectures and seminars and carry out teaching-related duties. You will also work alongside Trust colleagues in delivering a joint project.

Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes linked to midwifery and neonatal care, taking responsibility for the delivery and assessment of specific modules.

You will benefit from close partnership working with the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and through a new Group Model, with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and James Paget University NHS Foundation Trust. Your work plan will include designated time, underpinned by joint job planning and an Honorary NHS contract, to lead innovation and research projects which are strategic to NHS partners and the UEA, and which drive the improvement of midwifery practice and outcomes.

You will hold a current NMC registration as a midwife and a PhD (or nearing completion within 6 months of appointment) or significant professional leadership experience. Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and student assessment at all levels including coursework, examinations and undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations is essential. A Neonatal Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) qualification would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available from 5 January 2026 on an indefinite basis.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applicants with the protected characteristic of race (BAME), and/or sex (male) for this post, as they are currently underrepresented at this level within the School of Health Sciences. Appointment will be made on merit and all applicants will be scored against the same criteria.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days, can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 26 November 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
