Senior Technician

We are currently seeking a full time Senior Technician to work within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with practical and technical knowledge of physiology, together with previous practical experience in a busy scientific laboratory, an understanding of safe working practices and IT literacy. You will have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop successful partnerships with staff, students, external clients and suppliers, and the ability to work as part of a team. You will need to be helpful, competent and flexible, and be willing to work in any laboratory or classroom relative to their experience. This role will require you to:

• Prepare laboratories for teaching.
• Assist and provide technical support to academic staff and students during classes.
• Prepare materials, chemicals and equipment for classwork and undergraduate projects.
• Advise staff and students on the most appropriate techniques for their work.
• Demonstrate procedures, techniques and equipment in a practical class environment.
• Carry out and demonstrate safe and effective use of a variety of physiological procedures and preparation techniques, including oversee set up, maintenance and software updates associated with METI patient simulator and AD instrument recording equipment.
• Be competent in the use of “BodyBox” gaseous chamber and its calibration, use of treadmills, ECG simulators and Resusci Anne Manikins.
