We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to contribute to the design, optimisation, and implementation of advanced organ-on-chip systems. This role involves overseeing fluidic interconnectivity and biological functionality within a multi-organ microfluidic platform. You will be a key member of an international multipartner cluster, supporting researchers by adapting microfluidic platforms to a range of specific tissue models.

The post will be based within the School of Life Sciences with periods of secondment to Prof Shrike Zhang’s Laboratory in Harvard University, USA. The ideal candidate is highly organised and detail-oriented. They should have proven experience in microfluidic systems, tissue engineering, or related fields. Strong research skills with the ability to independently design and conduct experiments, and excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively in an international research consortium will be essential. The successful candidate should be willing and able to travel and work onsite at partner laboratory in the USA as needed. These are likely to be periods of 6-18 months and up to 24 moths in total during the whole project.

Candidates must have a PhD awarded or submitted (or close to submission) in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Microfluidics, or a related field. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibility in order to meet the demands of the project.  

This job is full time and is available from January 2026 and is fixed-term until 30/10/2029.
