About the Role
Applications are invited for a one-year Postdoctoral Research Associate role to support an international and interdisciplinary project exploring the intersection of remittance flows, climate change adaptation and food security. Funded by the Canadian New Frontiers in Research Fund, project partners are in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and South Africa, Qatar, Canada and the UK.
The successful applicant will be based in the Department of Geography of Environmental Science, Queen Mary University of London, UK and work under the supervision of Professor Kavita Datta. They will undertake primary research exploring remittance practices and experiences of food insecurity among Zimbabwean migrants to the UK. They will also provide administrative support, organise a workshop and liaise with project partners in Zimbabwe and South Africa and contribute to key outputs.
About You
The successful applicant must have a PhD or research experience in a relevant subject area (Geography, International Development or equivalent Social Sciences and Humanities discipline). They must be knowledgeable about remittance practices among transnational migrants and have prior experience of conducting empirical research, both in person and digitally, and producing high quality research reports. They should be able to work independently as well as part of team. They must be conversant with research ethics and protocols.
