Job description:
We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering for an Engineering Technician to join our technical support team. We’re looking for a proactive individual to support our teaching and research activities through the design and manufacture of custom experimental rigs and components, ensuring an efficient and effective technical service.
This is a ”hands-on role” with a focus on manufacturing precision components. You’ll work with both CNC and manual machines, use CAD software to design bespoke equipment, and support exciting student and research projects. From the workshop to the lab, you’ll collaborate with students and academics, deliver high-quality technical solutions, and uphold our outstanding standards in safety and service. If you’re passionate about precision, innovation, and making ideas happen — we’d love to hear from you!
The successful candidate will have a Level 3 (BTEC/A Level) qualification in an engineering design & manufacturing-related subject (or have equivalent experience), with proven vocational and practical application experience. You will have knowledge of safe working practices and experience of applying Health and Safety in a workshop environment and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and succinctly to a wide variety of stakeholders.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits, including a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more.
