The strategic partnership between the University of Reading (UoR) and the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (RBFT) aims to transform the health and care of the people of Berkshire and beyond by bridging university and healthcare environment collaborations between the two organisations. Working primarily with the Agriculture, Food & Health theme and with the RBFT, you will contribute to the growth of clinical research across the partnership, and other external collaborators, including the development of collaborative pre-clinical, clinical and patient-centred projects resulting in high-quality external research proposals and the generation of research income.

You will:

  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines and be able to manage a varied portfolio of projects at any one time.
  • Have knowledge of clinical research funding mechanisms in the UK and overseas, and experience in supporting the development of, writing or applying for clinical research funding.
  • Have an understanding of patient and public involvement in clinical research studies including ethical approval, and clinical research governance.

The role holder will join a wider team of Research Development Managers supporting the Agriculture, Food & Health research theme, alongside managers from other research themes, on the University’s beautiful green Whiteknights campus which has won 15 consecutive Green Flag award. The RBFT London Road site, at which the role holder is also expected to spend time, is within a short distance from the main campus, easily accessible by walking and public transport. The University provides a generous annual leave package of 26 days plus an additional 8 closure days which include bank holidays, and operates a flexible working policy.

Interviews will be held: Tuesday, 20th January 2026.
