This opportunity would ideally suit an experienced Band 6 or above HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist working in the NHS (or equivalent) who has expertise in formal teaching, training, supervision and/or higher education and who is looking for a development opportunity.
If you have any questions and/or would like to meet the team and find out more about this role, you would be most welcome to attend our online session. This will be held on Tuesday 13th January at 16:00-17:00hrs.
Please email Katie Peck on: k.peck@shu.ac.uk to book your place.
The Role
You will be involved in supporting the delivery of our pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy course and inter-professional CPD portfolio. We are looking for an individual who can inspire our students and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience, whilst preparing them for contemporary occupational therapy practice.
Alongside this, is the opportunity to develop your career, further your own academic profile and enhance your teaching through studying for the Postgraduate Certificate Teaching in Higher Education.
You must be an HCPC-registered occupational therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice.
You will ideally be at the forefront of new ways of working in health in primary, secondary or education settings and be able to demonstrate care innovation and emergent management pathways.
We have a team of lecturers to deliver our MSc provision, and it is envisaged that you would be part of this team contributing to occupational therapy pre-registration education whilst retaining strong links with employers and practice partners.
This role also requires you to contribute to our pre-registration MSc Occupational therapy course through teaching, assessing, academic citizenship and research activity. The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with our students from diverse backgrounds is required. You will support academic and placement learning progression and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.
We are developing a team of senior lecturers to support placement learning and simulation activities across our portfolio of courses. It is envisaged that this post will lead, and co-ordinate placement learning for our MSc Occupational Therapy course, supporting innovation and quality of occupational therapy practice education in higher education whilst continuing to build and retain strong links with our employers and stakeholders. Occupational Therapists with leadership experience of practice learning and supervision are encouraged to apply.
