About the Role
We are recruiting a Residential Life Manager to join the senior team in Residential Services. This full-time, permanent role, requires the post holder to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (one week in three), requiring the postholder to be within a one-hour commute to campus whilst on call. To assist with any relocation challenges, a one bedroomed flat, on campus, is offered for an initial period of 12 months after which this provision will be reviewed.

The post holder will manage a team of 2 Residential Life Officers plus up to 25 student staff and will also have responsibility for managing the onsite 24/7 Reception Service which has a team of 5 full-time staff. Key responsibilities involve the planning and implementation of an annual programme of events and initiatives for over 3000 students who live across 5 sites. Queen Mary Halls accommodate a diverse population of students, from varying backgrounds. The role is fundamental in developing a sense of community within all QM halls and the continual development of the services website, to ensure up to date relevant content is a key aspect of the role.

Reporting to the Residential Services Manager, this role focuses on operational delivery and demands flexibility for a 24/7 service. It includes some weekend work and requires professional collaboration with other teams at Queen Mary. The position is crucial for driving standards and enriching student life.

The successful candidate must have management-level experience in high-volume student accommodation and strong IT and events expertise. A commitment to customer service and driving the student experience is essential to uphold the university's reputation.

Key qualities include strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proven leadership skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to initiate and complete projects are vital. The candidate must also excel in problem-solving to ensure effective day-to-day and long-term solutions, supporting 24/7 service standards.
