This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Science Institute’s small busy team. Established in late 2020, the Data Science Institute forms the institutional cornerstone of data science and artificial intelligence at LSE. Our mission is to convene, catalyse and communicate LSE activity in data science and AI through teaching, research and events.

The MacArthur Foundation has awarded the DSI a two-year grant to develop and deliver the pilot phase of an annual Global Forum on AI and the Social Sciences. The Forum is a flagship event dedicated to AI and the social sciences which convenes expertise, is grounded in evidence and focused on impact. It will establish a distinctive platform where rigorous social science research meets high-level policy dialogue to shape how AI develops and serves societies around the globe. Each year, to coincide with the Forum, a State of AI and Society Report will be published.

The role will support the administration of the project working alongside members of the project team on the organisation and delivery of the Forum and the Report. This will include organising and supporting internal and external meetings for the project team, supporting the invitation process for speakers and participants, making complex travel arrangements, and coordinating and maintaining accurate records of participant logistics (flight, itinerary and visa) and briefings. The role will also support in compiling and editing speaker and participant bios and assisting in the preparation and distribution of Forum documents.

It is essential that you have a professional outlook, excellent communication and relationship building skills, and can provide an exceptional level of customer service at all times. You will need a wide range of office and administrative skills, including solid IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office), experience of organising events, together with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude to the varied requirements of the role. This is a responsible role that requires a high level of attention to detail and organisational skills in order to juggle competing demands.
