Summer Programmes is a specialist creative business development unit in the School of International Education and Languages that designs, develops and delivers open and bespoke seasonal international education programmes in line with King’s Education Strategy. Its portfolio includes flagship Undergraduate and Pre-university Summer Schools, customised undergraduate and postgraduate student programming for international partners, short courses and overseas programmes offered in face-to-face, blended and online modalities.
About King’s Centre for International Education and Languages
King’s Centre for International Education and Languages is a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-university summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners, and academic skills provision for all King’s students. Each of these areas are well established, respected and recognised within and beyond the King’s community.
The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience. The Centre has significant expertise in International Education and makes a significant contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King’s student body.
About the role
The Senior Pre-University Summer School Manager will oversee and manage pastoral care16 and 17 years old Pre-University Summer School students in residences as well as the smooth running of the extracurricular summer school programme and overall student experience. Leading a team of Summer School assistants, the postholder will both - support and proactive care to all students during their time on the programme as well as support to students in crisis.
The postholder will be required to live in Stamford Street Apartments (SSA) residence alongside their team of Summer Assistants between 5 July-1 August 2026. Accommodation provision in SSA is free of charge and includes 2 meals per day (breakfast and dinner) served in the onsite restaurant.
As one of the senior managers on the programme, the postholder will work closely with the Summer Programmes Deputy Head of Ops and the Head of Education to ensure the smooth day to day running of the summer school. The postholder will also line manage the Pre-University Summer School Manager and an extended team of Summer School Assistants.
The successful applicant will require an enhanced DBS certificate.
Period of appointment: Fixed term for 3 months, 6 May- 7 August 2026
Working Hours: Wed 6th May – June, Mon-Fri, flexible between 17.5 - 35 hours per week depending on workload and start date. During programme delivery (July) - full time, 5 days out of 7, Mon - Sun; postholder may be required to work additional hours during this period; this will be paid at the normal hourly rate
