About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer to join the Centre for Multi-omics, a world leader in genetic discovery of molecular traits such as metabolites and proteins. Our research links these traits to complex diseases to reveal new drug targets, indications, and disease mechanisms. We are passionate about training the next generation of scientists to translate genomic data into clinically actionable insights. Our international team values scientific excellence, curiosity, and a healthy work–life balance.
The Lecturer will deliver a genomics programme leveraging large-scale biological samples and linked health data from diverse populations. You will lead projects using population-scale whole-genome sequencing to uncover rare, high-impact variants influencing human health, and integrate omics research across PHURI’s multidisciplinary themes.
About PHURI
Our new University Research Institutes (URIs) are flagship initiatives under our ambitious Strategy 2030, convening thematic and multidisciplinary research excellence to tackle questions of international importance.
The Precision Healthcare University Research Institute (PHURI) will unite world-leading expertise from Queen Mary’s, nationally and internationally to drive research excellence and expedite impact. PHURI’s multidisciplinary teams will address four interconnected research themes; Health data and analytics; Multiomics and single cell analyses; MedTech and Devices; and Therapeutic Innovation.
These themes will come together to create a complete journey from disease identification, through the development of a therapy, intervention or device, to translation for patients in the clinic. This integrated approach is a distinguishing feature of PHURI.
PHURI builds on the close partnership between Queen Mary University of London and Barts NHS Trust, continuing our shared focus on accelerating the latest healthcare innovations from the bench to bedside. We will work closely with Barts Trust to ensure that our research is focused on where it’s needed most, using real-world clinical data to drive the development and targeted prescription of treatments based on patients’ needs. This will help to build a stronger health service for the people of East London, the UK and the world.
