The Department
Library Services is at the heart of the student and academic experience at the University of West London, facilitating creation of knowledge and ideas and developing confident, critically information-literate professionals. We place particular value on supporting our institutional mission of extending higher education to those traditionally excluded from it, and in facilitating research and scholarship in ways that connect with equity and widening participation.
The Role
We are looking for an Academic Support Manager to join the UWL Library Services team. This role manages a small team of subject librarians and assistant librarians. It is one of two Academic Support Manager roles in the department.
This is a permanent and full-time role.
The Academic Support Manager role has strategic responsibility for ensuring that the library is meeting the needs of the schools and colleges which the subject librarians they line manage work with. This includes information literacy teaching in modules being embedded at the key points for students, evaluation of individual support provided to students and researchers and co-managing the book budget for the library.
The role is central to keeping inclusive collection development at the heart of our work.
This post is critical to the library through its work in developing and leading initiatives to adapt the library service to meet the current and future needs of our university and providing an excellent student experience.
The Person
We are looking for a pro-active person with a positive approach to service development and excellent communication skills.
