ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST

As part of an established Academic Liaison Librarians team, this role will suit someone who is as passionate about digital education as they are about helping students develop digital and information literacy skills.

We are particularly looking for someone who can play a key role in developing the Library’s digital learning provision alongside our existing Digital Technologist position, including:

  • Teaching students how to navigate digital information, AI tools, and academic technologies
  • Designing accessible online learning materials, videos, guides and interactive content
  • Delivering workshops on digital literacy, generative AI, academic integrity, and the effective use of digital resources
  • Helping students and staff build confidence and competence in an evolving digital landscape

Alongside this digital focus, you will also provide subject support to designated academic areas, including embedded class teaching, 1-to-1 student appointments and liaison with academic staff.

In Library Services we’re dedicated to providing high quality and innovative library support for learning, teaching and research. We’re passionate about placing library services at the heart of a student’s university experience, embracing the challenges and opportunities offered by emerging technologies, continuously developing our own skills and knowledge in order to evolve our services to meet the needs of our students and colleagues.

ABOUT YOU

We're excited to be looking for a proactive and confident individual to join our team. You will be someone who:

  • Enjoys teaching and working directly with students
  • Has experience supporting learners’ digital or academic skills
  • Is confident with educational technologies, online platforms and digital content creation
  • Is curious about emerging technologies (including AI) and their impact on learning
  • Communicates clearly and can explain complex ideas simply
  • Works collaboratively and builds strong partnerships with colleagues
  • Is proactive, creative and enthusiastic about inclusive learning

A library/information qualification is welcome but not essential if you have equivalent relevant experience in teaching, digital education or student-facing support.

If you are enthusiastic about digital learning, student support, and helping others navigate AI, digital skills and information confidently, we would love to hear from you.
