We are seeking an experienced Careers Consultant to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis. Working within a collaborative and award-winning department of careers and employability professionals, you will join the Student Professional Development Department (SPD) at Brunel University London, as part of the Careers team.

As part of our collegiate and highly experienced team of HE careers guidance practitioners, you will support students and graduates across a range of cohorts including the College of Arts, Law and Social Sciences and Brunel Business School. Your role will be varied, including one-to-one guidance, and the design and delivery of careers-related talks and workshops through the curriculum, workshops and events both virtually and face to face.

Rapidly changing technological advances have added to the complex world that our students are navigating and we are therefore looking for candidates who keep up to date with such advances. We also welcome candidates who have experience of working with a range of AI and online platforms to support students.

Working with internal stakeholders, you will support career development initiatives for our broad disciplinary cohort. The SPD has strong links with employers, and the team is often involved with innovative projects aimed at increasing students’ employability, particularly those from an underrepresented background. As part of your role, you will engage and build strong relationships with employers, while increasing students’ confidence and awareness of a range of relevant employment opportunities.

Strong networking, communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to encourage students to develop their skills and explore a breadth of employment options nationally and internationally. With flexibility and a positive attitude, you will have the confidence to work across a range of disciplines and contribute to the wider strategic goals of the SPD and the University.

Educated to at least degree level with a recognised careers guidance/coaching qualification, you will have in-depth experience of careers guidance / coaching in a higher education setting and understand the recruitment market for graduates.
