Merton College proposes to appoint a permanent College Lecturer and Researcher in Politics from 1 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The main duties of the post will be:
The successful candidate will teach the Practice of Politics component of the first-year ‘Introduction to Politics’ module and, for the Final Honour School (second- and third-year undergraduates), the core Political Sociology paper and at least one other core paper from Comparative Government, British Politics & Government since 1900, Theory of Politics, International Relations. The ability to provide effective tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates and to teach undergraduate quantitative social sciences methods is essential.
