About the role

The work has a particular focus on quantitative analysis of the national data to estimate mental health needs which are both known and unknown to health services related to mental health for adolescents and their families. The post-holder will conduct analyses of national administrative databases including the enhanced ECHILD database. The wider project aims and post are nested within the NIHR Children and Families Policy Research Unit (CPRU), which aims to conduct high-quality research to support the development of evidence-based policy to improve the health of children and families and to develop methods and data resources to improve the quality and timeliness of evidence for policy. The post-holder will also work collaboratively with the UKRI Population Mental Health Improvement Consortium to undertake research activities aiming to improve early intervention and address inequalities in population mental health. The post holder will have responsibility for designing and deliveri ng the analyses, writing journal papers and other outputs and for presenting the study to the wider consortium, funders and our practice, policy and academic research audiences as well as undertaking any other duties commensurate with grade. The post holder will be expected to work closely with other government bodies including NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care and Dept of Education to help build pathways to improve the mobilisation of knowledge from ECHILD derived analysis to improve child health care delivery. Experience with one or more of the administrative databases within ECHILD would be an advantage (desirable for G7 and essential for G8). This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% (two days a week) on site. We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible The salary offered in this post is at either grade 7 (£45,103 - £52,586 per annum) or at grade 8 (£54,931 - £62,903 per annum) and is funded until 31/12/2027 in the first instance or when the postholder returns from maternity, whichever is sooner.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience in the following: • PhD in relevant discipline (e.g. epidemiology, statistics, health data science) or equivalent experience • Large and longitudinal administrative dataset data management and curation (e.g. Hospital Episodes Statistics, National Pupil Database, Mental Health Services Data) • Quantitative skills in analysing large longitudinal administrative data, including regression analysis Required skills: • Advanced skills in at least one statistical software package (e.g. STATA, R) • Quantitative skills in analysing large longitudinal administrative data, including regression analysis • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time and the ability to work independently, and collaboratively across diverse disciplines • Writing, presenting and explaining technical and/or scientific reports to scientific and lay audiences
