Sub-Department: Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement
The University of London is the UK’s largest provider of international distance and online learning and the convenor of a federation of 17 London-based universities, many of which are among the highest-ranking universities in the world.
Collectively the federation represents a cohort of some 250,000 learners and 50,000 academic and professional services staff. Within this cohort are around 40,000 University of London students who study programmes which are developed and delivered in partnership with our 17 federation members.
The University of London is also home to the School of Advanced Study, the national centre for the humanities and a champion for the arts and humanities.
Although proudly rooted in London, our community and impact are global.
Our passion for increasing access to education and mobilising the collective power and expertise of the federation is central to our ability to transform lives around the world and address the global challenges of the future
The Role
We’re looking for an Alumni Engagement Manager to help strengthen lifelong connections between the University of London and our global alumni community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in delivering high-impact engagement and volunteering initiatives that support the work of the Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement Office.
In this role, you’ll lead the development and delivery of alumni engagement programmes, working closely with colleagues across the University to create meaningful volunteer opportunities for alumni to support careers activity, international engagement, institutional reputation and philanthropic readiness. You’ll also contribute to selected engagement events in the UK and internationally, ensuring our alumni feel connected, valued and informed.
You’ll act as a visible and proactive representative of the University when meeting alumni, stewarding volunteers, and fostering positive relationships across diverse regions and cultures. A key part of the role will be recording activity and impact in our CRM system, using data to inform planning and to demonstrate the value of alumni contributions.
You’ll need to be an organised and confident communicator, comfortable managing relationships across different levels of seniority. With experience in alumni engagement, volunteer management or stakeholder-focused roles, you will bring strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
The post sits within the Alumni Engagement team and reports to the Head of Alumni Engagement.
