Short summary

The Senior Manager – Post-Award Grant Compliance plays a key role in ensuring the Francis Crick Institute’s externally funded research remains compliant with funder terms and conditions. With a diverse and growing funding portfolio, this role provides expert oversight of post-award grant compliance across the organisation. 

You will lead the development and implementation of robust post-award processes, working closely with finance, research and operational teams to provide clear guidance on funder regulations. Acting as a key point of contact for external funders and auditors, you will ensure grants are managed effectively and in line with requirements. 

As a senior member of the Finance and Grants team, you will support leadership capacity by deputising for the Post-Award Team Lead and contributing to process improvements, systems development and best practice across the institute.

Key Responsibilities 

These include but are not limited to:

  • Leading post-award grant compliance activity, ensuring adherence to funder terms and conditions.
  • Developing and improving post-award processes, procedures and system controls.
  • Providing expert advice to scientific and operational colleagues on compliance and risk.
  • Identifying and managing compliance risks across the funding portfolio.
  • Leading responses to internal, external and funder audits.
  • Developing funder guidance and delivering training to support best practice in grants management.

About you

You will have:  

  • Extensive post-award grants management experience, including grant finance and reporting.*
  • Strong knowledge of major funder requirements, particularly UKRI, UK charity and European Commission funding.*
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise confidently.*
  • A strong understanding of post-award processes, compliance and sector best practice.
  • Proven experience of improving systems and processes to enhance grant management.*
