About the role
The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a full-time technical position in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The purpose of this role is to provide a high level of specialist technical support to the teaching and research laboratories of the Department. Applications are invited for this fixed-term post in CEE, with responsibility for providing technical support for activities within the highly utilised laboratories, with support from other technical colleagues across the faculty. Responsibilities will include maintenance of laboratories and equipment, management of laboratory health and safety, liaising with colleagues on the design and content of new laboratory experiments, and providing teaching support. The role has significant manual handling involved, including taking delivery of gas cylinders and transportation of chemicals and equipment.
About the team
We have a great team supporting CEE, and the role holder will join our team of highly skilled technical staff to play an integral part in the supervision and maintenance of laboratories within the department, as well as ensuring that core infrastructure is maintained.
About you
We are seeking a positive and proactive individual with a flexible approach, able to work with minimal supervision, able to develop novel solutions to problems, and engage in new opportunities and challenges as required. Applicants will require experience of working in a chemistry or chemical engineering laboratory environment. Candidates must have the ability to learn new techniques and communicate knowledge of theory and practice to others.
