The Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge, home to the University's largest performing venue - West Road Concert Hall is seeking a new member to join its Custodian team. This team plays a vital role in facilities management and user support, ensuring the building operates smoothly and safely for teaching staff, students and external hirers.
Custodians help maintain a welcoming, clean, secure, and well-organised environment. They ensure the building is ready for use, offer guidance on facilities, represent the Faculty during out-of-hours events, and serve as a key communication link between building users and Faculty staff.
Each Custodian also has a specific area of expertise: one is responsible for the running of the Concert Hall bar and stockroom; one is responsible for technical equipment used by both faculty and external hirers; and one is responsible for maintenance and cleaning.
In addition to the basic salary, a shift allowance worth approximately 10% of salary is offered to reflect evening, weekend, and bank holiday work. If you possess strong communication and organisational skills together with exceptional tact and patience this position offers a rewarding and dynamic opportunity.
Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Anthony Brice, Concert Hall Manager at asb210@cam.ac.uk.
