About the School / Service
The Strategic Development & Delivery team works in partnership with stakeholders across the institution, combining our specialist expertise, sector knowledge and institutional awareness to support the delivery of our vision to 2028 and beyond.
This is a new Directorate for UEL and comprises of four main portfolios: Insights & Decision Support, Strategy & Performance, Portfolio & Benefits, and Change & Improvement. These four service areas will facilitate effective decision making, improve our staff and student experience, and deliver lasting positive change.
About the Job
As a Senior Project Manager, you couldn’t be joining at a more exciting time as we embark upon several significant and transformational programmes and projects of change across the institution. You will play a vital role in ensuring new projects are initiated well and then smoothly managed across all stages of the UEL project lifecycle. You will have overall responsible for the day-to-day delivery and tasks of a project, lead the development and delivery of the project plan, the associated project governance and provide regular reporting to Programme Manager and Project Sponsor as appropriate. As the driving force behind effective project benefits management, you will ensure that projects deliver on their objectives that contribute towards achieve the University strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver projects successfully across the full lifecycle — from initiation and implementation through to smooth transition into business-as-usual services.
- Lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Engage and influence stakeholders effectively at all levels, ensuring alignment, communication, and commitment to project objectives.
- Apply strategic awareness and sound judgement to drive decision-making and ensure project success.
- Demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, prioritising effectively within a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Use emotional intelligence and resilience to manage challenges and maintain positive relationships.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the University’s project and transformation portfolio.
- Champion positive change and deliver projects that create lasting impact for the UEL community.
About You
You are an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering successful projects within large or complex organisations. You’re confident leading projects through the full lifecycle — from business case to delivery and transition — ensuring outcomes that create lasting impact.
You bring strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills, underpinned by excellent organisational ability, strategic awareness, and emotional intelligence. You’re resilient under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about driving positive change.
