Quality Manager (Higher Education)

Tiro Training Ltd

Tiro is a leading training provider for science and technology apprenticeships. We’ve been helping hungry apprentices to join ambitious businesses since 2005. At Tiro, we really believe that great apprenticeships help everyone. Because there are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled. But our work will never be just about getting bums on seats and pocketing our commission. In our own small way, we’re helping to change the world – finding people that are working on COVID vaccines, finding new ways for technology to help humanity and helping to tackle the big issues of the day, like climate change. We’re proud to be playing our part in making that happen, and we’re looking for more like-minded people to join team Tiro.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager (Higher Education) to play a key role in developing and leading our Higher Education operations, whilst laying the foundations for Tiro’s future as an Independent Higher Education provider.

In this role, you’ll be OBSESSED with building smart, robust, scalable quality and operational infrastructure that makes Higher Education work brilliantly, for our learners, our customers, and our teams.

You’ll be EXCITED by the opportunity to shape the systems, processes and governance that will enable us to achieve OfS registration and Degree Awarding Powers.

Making the most of your EXPERTISE in OfS registration and Degree Awarding Powers, you’ll lead the development of the policies, governance systems, evidence bases and review processes we need to achieve true independence, while ensuring we confidently meet (and exceed) the requirements of our validated partnership.

You’ll be EXCITED by the challenge of turning a blank sheet of paper into practical, value-adding processes that are lived across Tiro, not just written down.

As a COLLABORATOR, you’ll THRIVE on bringing people together across Tiro — keeping committees on track, actions closed, and momentum moving as we build a HE model that’s unapologetically brilliant.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is TRUSTED, DETAIL-DRIVEN and TENACIOUS.

You’ll be self-motivated and driven to build smart, scalable HE quality and operational systems that set Tiro up for success as an Independent Higher Education provider.

As an HE QUALITY PRO, you’ll bring deep expertise in OfS registration and Degree Awarding Powers (ideally in a small or specialist provider), and you’ll LOVE turning complex regulation into practical, usable processes that genuinely add value to learners, customers and colleagues.

You’ll OOZE credibility, be confident making decisions in ambiguity, and with your AWESOME communication skills, you’ll be able to bring people with you — even when the detail gets tricky.

You’ll THRIVE on collaboration, feel confident leading meetings and working with senior stakeholders, and you’ll be naturally curious always digging into guidance, policy and data to keep us sharp, compliant and continuously improving.

Even if this doesn’t sound quite like you, but you still think you could do a great job in the role, get in touch. We have loads of examples of colleagues at Tiro who’ve come from outside the education sector and are absolutely smashing it — so we’re always open to wildcards. But we’re not just interested in experience and qualifications, we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and aptitude to fit right in at Tiro. Someone who knows their own mind and isn’t afraid to have a strong opinion. Someone who likes to work under their own steam and doesn’t want or need to be micromanaged. Someone who gets a thrill from building something meaningful, helping others succeed, and shaping the future of science and technology education. You’ll give the role your all, be unafraid to take the odd calculated risk, and will fundamentally challenge us — because if you don’t change Tiro, you can’t succeed.

The Package

We love people. The apprentices who’re brimming with potential. The business leaders who are crying out for extra help. And our fantastic team who make it all happen. And if you love people, you treat them well. You pay them what they’re worth. You coach and support them. And give them the opportunities to progress. You take a chance on people because you see something special, and you know they’re worth it.

At Tiro, we’ll look after you because we’re nothing without our people. We’ll never take you for granted and we’ll make sure work’s fun and rewarding. And in turn, we’ll ask you to treat our clients and our apprentices the same way – helping to give people their first big break and enabling businesses to grow.

At Tiro, we make great things happen for people. And that starts with you. You’ll receive:

  • Salary of £50,000 - £60,000 p.a.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Hours of work - you can choose your own hours, providing you're around when stakeholders need you and you clock up 37.5 hours per week
  • Remote working
  • 5% employee / 3% employer pension contribution
  • Regular All Staff Events
  • Training and CPD opportunities
  • Healthcare Plan

About Tiro

We’re Tiro (pronounced Tea-ro — white, two sugars).

In Latin, it means novice, recruit, apprentice, beginner, and soldier — the perfect name for a company that’s been helping fearless apprentices join ambitious businesses since 2005.

We believe great apprenticeships help everyone. There are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employers waiting to nurture them.

We’re proud to help connect the two — supporting industries that make, test, and innovate; from polymer manufacturing and materials science to sustainable engineering and advanced technology.

At Tiro, we make great things happen for people.
And that starts with you.
