The Students’ Union at the University of Bath is looking for a compassionate and motivated Advisor to join our Advice and Support Team.
This is a frontline role supporting students through some of the most challenging moments of their university experience. You’ll be part of a service that is independent from the University, ensuring students always have a confidential, impartial place to turn for guidance, clarity and reassurance.
About the role
As an Advisor, you will provide one-to-one support across a wide range of issues, from academic appeals and private housing concerns to supporting students who have been accused of breaching University regulations. You will help students understand their options, navigate complex procedures, and feel empowered to make decisions that support their wellbeing and success.
This role is central to The SU’s wider mission of creating a safe, inclusive and supportive student community. By discussing casework trends, contributing insights to SU Officers and collaborating with University partners, you will play an active part in shaping policy and improving support across campus.

We’re seeking someone motivated, organised, and sensitive to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. You’ll support individuals through challenging situations, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively within a team.

You should be confident using ICT systems for email, case management, and handling confidential information. Experience in Higher Education is desirable, as is contributing to service development or policy improvements, with knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy rights, or student accommodation issues.

This is a part-time role, working 21.9 hours per week (0.6 fte) - whilst Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays are our preferred working days, exact working patterns can be discussed.
