Contract Type: Fixed Term (36 months)
This role is part of a management Knowledge Transfer Partnership (mKTP) between Aston University and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC). The project aims to design, test, and embed a rigorous evaluation framework to support decision-making and assess the effectiveness of service design, delivery, and workforce planning within BCHC’s Community Care Collaborative (CCC). The work will contribute to improved patient experience and outcomes, reduced health inequalities, and delivery of the NHS 10-Year Plan.
The mKTP will support a strategic shift towards data-driven decision-making and robust service evaluation across integrated community care services. The successful candidate will play a central role in embedding sustainable evaluation practices within BCHC.
Candidate Profile
You will hold a minimum MSc in Organisational Psychology, Public Health, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification), with experience of managing complex projects and applying mixed-methods analysis. Experience in community, health, or social development contexts would be advantageous.
Main Responsibilities
You will develop and embed a Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) evaluation framework for the Community Care Collaborative, supporting a shift towards integrated and evidence-based implementation. Key responsibilities include:
Personal Attributes
You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with senior NHS leaders, clinicians, and patients. You will communicate clearly with a range of audiences and show good organisation, professional judgement, and time management. You will be adaptable, motivated, and able to work independently while contributing positively to an interdisciplinary team. An interest in innovation, new technologies, and advanced data approaches is essential.
Additional Responsibilities
You will engage in continuous professional development, promote health, safety, equality, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability, and carry out duties fairly and ethically.
Benefits and Career Development
The role offers up to £6,000 for personal and professional development over the project duration, 25 days’ annual leave, professional mentoring, and access to mental health and wellbeing support. Approximately 60% of KTP Associates secure employment with their host organisation at the end of the partnership.
About the Partnership
BCHC delivers over 100 NHS services to 1.1 million residents in Birmingham and specialist services to 6.5 million people across the West Midlands. You will work closely with Aston University academics, including Professor Rachel Shaw and Dr Megan Jarman, alongside BCHC’s senior management team, with support from an Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Adviser.
The role is based at BCHC, with access to Aston University facilities. Some travel across the West Midlands is required, and flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
This post may qualify for endorsement under the Global Talent visa (Endorsed Funder route). Candidates must hold appropriate immigration permission for the full contract duration.
