About the Role
The JRMO Communication and Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Joint Research Management Office, delivering strategic leadership across internal communications, office administration, and project coordination. Working collaboratively with teams across Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust, the post holder will lead the development of integrated communication strategies, with responsibility for shaping and maintaining JRMO communications—including the production of regular bulletins, website management, and stakeholder engagement. They will manage and mentor key administrative staff, and ensure robust administrative processes.
About You
You will have good organisational skills and the ability to balance competing pressures, deadlines and demands. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to act as a trusted point of contact, across both institutions (Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust), with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Your experience in project management, involving complex initiatives, will be essential to overseeing critical operational functions that support recruitment, events, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. You should have good working knowledge of financial systems and accounting methodologies and the ability to provide budget computations and analysis with complete accuracy, often under pressure. You be able to contribute to strategic projects that drive innovation, alignment, and organisational excellence within the JRMO.
About the JRMO
Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) supports researchers across Queen Mary, University of London and Bart’s Health NHS Trust. Our highly trained team is on hand to support a diverse range of research activities, from getting a project off the ground to ensuring its smooth running and future development. The team members understand where their work fits into the strategic plans and goals of the organisations.
Our services include assisting with approvals process’s, ongoing financial management of grants and awards, support with Research Integrity, and International Research and Innovation Partnership Support.
