The role
A part time, fixed term (9 months) Teaching Associate (clinical teaching fellow) post is available in Bristol Medical School. The role contributes to the delivery, development and assessment of campus-based teaching (and teaching-related activities) for Years 1 and 2 of the MB ChB medical undergraduate programme, focusing on the ongoing development and delivery of clinical skills sessions. Alongside the delivery of teaching the role holder will contribute to the ongoing design of the programme, using innovative methods and may be involved in pedagogy. This post offers the opportunity for individuals to extend their clinical training to focus on the development of skills in medical education. An important aspect of the job is to enthusiastically illustrate the concepts, relevance and application of clinical skills, biomedical sciences and medical humanities to medical students, drawing on the role holder’s recent professional experience, either in research or clinical, together with relevant teaching experience.
What will you be doing?
The role holder will contribute to the planning and delivery of teaching. Teaching may include small and large group tutorials, workshops, practical classes and clinical skills teaching. In addition, the role holder will act as a case-base facilitator. Online teaching may be delivered alongside face-to-face teaching.
You should apply if
You should have recent clinical or research experience at a junior level with relevant experience of contributing to undergraduate medical education.
A good knowledge of biomedical science subjects and/or medical humanities to second year undergraduate level is essential.
In addition, you should hold a relevant clinical qualification (MB ChB/MBBS or equivalent), and you may have a teaching qualification (or equivalent documented experience) related to higher education.
