Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Health and Social Care is a vibrant community for over 3,400 students, around 120 staff and the only provider of midwifery, nursing (all fields of practice) and allied health education in Scotland.
Our academic staff and students rely on a strong and dedicated team of professionals to support them and currently, we have an opportunity for a part-time Technical Assistant to provide hands-on technical support with clinical skills/simulated practice learning, and teaching & assessment within our School of Health and Social Care.
The Role:
As Technical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to use your practical skills to provide valuable assistance with the daily running of practical classes and project work for staff and students.
Whilst some of your duties will involve helping with the setup of in-room and mobile projector equipment, your practical knowledge of technical support will also serve you well as you take responsibility for the setup of SMOTS equipment e.g.: A/V recording systems/cameras for live streaming and recording.
It is desirable that you will have worked in a clinical skills centre or healthcare environment, so this will have provided you with practical experience to assist with the setup and use of other clinical skills equipment such as training manikins. If you do not have this experience however, then we will be happy to provide full training.
You will also be in a good position to utilise your technical and IT knowledge to set up iPad controllers and liaise with our IT Service Desk or relevant providers for updates, trouble shooting, or reporting damaged equipment/property for repair.
The role does come with comprehensive training, which will soon see you become a valued team member, providing a defined technical service that will truly make a difference to the experience of our students and staff.
Because support is mainly required for set up and tear down of equipment for classes, the hours of this post would be roughly between either 8am – 12pm or 1pm – 5pm, 4 - 5 days per week..
What we will need from you:
Benefits we offer:
41 days annual leave (pro rata and including bank holidays), generous pension scheme with Employer contribution of 17.6%, and professional development opportunities. Further information can be viewed here.
