About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional administrator to join the Professional Services team within the School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) at King’s College London. We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Business Operations Officer to offer essential administrative support within our HR & Finance Cluster.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Business Operations Officer (HR & Finance) and Senior Business Operations Manager (HR & Finance) to support our four departments. They will be part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team dedicated to enhancing collaboration between academics, researchers, and professional services across the School, Faculty, and University. Your contribution will be vital in maintaining and developing these relationships.

This role is ideal for candidates who excel at managing multiple priorities, have excellent attention to detail, and communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. Full training on our internal systems will be provided, enabling you to work independently and proactively. You’ll gain extensive experience in HR and Finance administration, with opportunities for personal development.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Location: Primarily working from Denmark Hill Campus with occasional days at King’s other campuses.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Proficiency in commonly used office software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook or equivalent), with the ability to produce accurate documents and manage data effectively.
  2. Numeracy and financial awareness, with ability to interpret and analyse reports and datasets to support decision-making.
  3. Proven ability to prioritise competing tasks, solve problems independently, and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality service.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey complex information clearly and confidently to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Commitment to delivering excellent service and ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and external stakeholders, while maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information in line with GDPR and institutional policies.
  6. Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to learn and apply new procedures quickly, adjust to changing priorities, and maintain accuracy and effectiveness when processes or requirements change.

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience using HR and Finance systems (e.g., PeopleXD, Business World) or equivalent platforms, with understanding of associated regulations and processes
  2. Experience working from shared mailboxes and handling high volumes of enquiries efficiently using Outlook or similar platforms.
  3. Experience working in HR or Finance within a higher education setting, or possession of a relevant professional qualification.
  4. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to service enhancement
