About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Arts University Bournemouth for a Lecturer to contribute to our BA (Hons) Illustration course for an initial fixed term period of 9 months. We are looking for an individual who can enhance the ethos of excellence and contribute to teaching and learning in both in the Illustration area, as well as the Arts University Bournemouth.

This post requires a broad level of experience within illustration as well as a good critical knowledge and understanding of contemporary illustrative practices. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and well-informed individual to teach across our courses. We are seeking candidate who can teach through workshops, seminars, tutorials, and lectures, and who have experience in illustration and the creative industries. The post holder will be flexible in their approach to illustration practice and committed to student centred teaching and learning.

The post holder will have experience within the profession and experience of working in an HE environment, and will need to be able to work effectively in a team or independently. The successful candidate will be capable of managing the demands of teaching at degree level and will devise briefs, deliver inspiring workshops and lectures, and be actively involved in the assessment process. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are essential.

The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject and a teaching qualification and/or Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellow Membership. A PhD in a relevant area is desirable but not essential.

Our benefits:

In meeting your performance expectations, you’ll receive an annual salary increase in line with the grade of your role. An annual cost of living uplift will be applied, the timing and implementation of which are subject to the University’s decision. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website https://aub.ac.uk/working-at-aub
