The University of Nottingham are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic computational chemist for a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow post within the research group of Professor Elena Besley to work on the “Enabling Net Zero and the AI Revolution with Ultra-Low Energy 2D Materials and Devices (NEED2D)” Programme Grant.
The NEED2D project funds a team of UK scientists at Queen Mary University of London, University of Nottingham and University of Glasgow who work on the development of energy efficient, atomically thin semiconductors to dramatically reduce the electricity demand from AI data centres and high-performance computing.
The appointed Research Associate/Fellow will conduct computational studies of electronic transport and quantum phenomena in 2D semiconductor materials and spin-qubits; work in close collaboration with partners in academia and industry to address challenges in the science and technology of atomically thin semiconductor for low-energy-consumption electronics; aid the design of 2D Dirac-source FET.
