The Faculty of History wishes to recruit a Temporary Assistant Professor in Global Economic History (1600-1850). This is a fixed term 24 month Temporary Assistant Professorship. To cover the academic leave of the postholder in 2026-2028.

Your responsibilities will include contributing to one or more of our first-year Outline papers by delivering lectures and undertaking small-group supervisions and examining duties.

You will also be required to contribute to the MPhil in Economic and Social History and to supervise MPhil dissertations, to examine at MPhil level and to assess and register PhD students. You may also be called upon to serve as internal examiner of PhDs and you will be expected to participate in the Faculty's research seminars.

You will contribute to the administration of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and  may be expected to take one of the smaller administrative roles in the Faculty and you will be a member of the Economic and Social History subject group.

We are looking for someone holding, by the start of the appointment, a doctorate in a relevant field and who has outstanding abilities in teaching and research. You will have an exceptional record of research and publications for your career stage and be able to demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 24 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
