The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. We are ambitious and have a bold vision - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world - which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee. We are seeking a highly proactive Innovation Support Officer to join our Innovation & Impact team within the Research, Innovation & Impact (RII) Directorate.
About the role
We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Systems & Operations Officer to support research, innovation and impact activity across the University. You will be someone who enjoys working at the intersection of systems, data and people, with a strong service mindset and a genuine interest in improving processes and user experience. Confident working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues, you will be comfortable supporting a diverse user base including researchers, academics and professional services staff, providing clear guidance, resolving issues and helping others get the most from research information systems..
About you
You will bring experience of working with information systems and data, ideally within a research, higher education or similarly complex operational environment. Strong analytical skills and confidence using Excel and reporting tools are essential, as is the ability to extract, interpret and present meaningful management information. Experience of supporting or administering systems such as Worktribe (or comparable platforms), producing user guidance, and contributing to continuous improvement or system development projects would be highly advantageous. Above all, you will be adaptable, organised and solutions‑focused, with the confidence to learn new systems quickly and contribute positively to a high‑performing, service‑oriented team.
