We are seeking to recruit an experienced and well organised postdoctoral researcher to carry out research to understand transcriptional and functional changes as CTLs are activated by different stimuli. The research group is part of the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The lab works on the molecular mechanisms that control killing by cytotoxic T lymphocytes, important cells of the immune system that kill virally infected and cancer cells. Our research combines cell biology and immunology, using genetic approaches including CRISPR and single cell RNA sequencing of primary lymphocytes, together with high-resolution imaging.
The holder of the post will be experienced in single cell RNA sequencing of primary lymphocytes and the impact of TCR signal strength on signalling pathways in naive and activated CTLs. Work will include handling primary cells, extracting RNA for experiments as well as coding required for analysis. The candidate must have published work in this area of biology and will need to write up work previously carried out in the laboratory. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work with clinical colleagues in any collaborative projects.
The applicant must be a postgraduate in transcriptomic analysis and signal strength of CTLs, able to take part in clinical collaborations in this area.
The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.
This post is available immediately and funding is available until February 2027 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
