The School of the Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking an experienced Faculty Manager in the Faculty of Economics.
The Role
Reporting to the Secretary of the School, the Faculty Manager provides support to the Chair of Faculty in delivering strategic goals related to governance, policy, teaching, and research. The post holder works collaboratively with the Chair on strategic planning and helps implement new initiatives. They oversee all administrative and business operations within the Faculty or Department, ensuring effective systems, high quality services, and continuous improvement. A key focus is leading the professional services team that supports teaching, learning, and research. The post holder is also responsible for building strong networks and maintaining constructive communication across the School and the wider University to enhance Faculty or Department activities.
About You
Educated to first degree level, the right candidate would have experience of administration management at a senior level, leading and managing large teams with evidence of managing for quality results, working at a tactical or operational level to deliver strategic planning and change. Experience of supporting and developing staff is essential as well as knowledge of issues facing the Higher Education sector in the UK. The ideal candidate would be highly proactive, persuasive and enthusiastic with an ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation. Strong planning skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing are essential.
