Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Space Instrumentation.
The post holder will join the Oxford Space instrumentation group to support the development of the Modular Infrared Molecules and Ices Sensor (MIRMIS) instrument for ESA’s Comet-Interceptor, and on-going support of the LaFORGE lunar rover project. The role may also include support for the Lunar Thermal Mapper2 (LTM2) instrument for NASA’s Lunar Trailblazer mission. The post holder will work with the existing Oxford team to assist with development of instrument operations plans, instrument integration and testing for all three projects.
Applicants should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be close to completion) in engineering or a related discipline. Post-qualification research experience and a strong publication record are essential, together with clear evidence of contributions to the development of scientific instrumentation.
The post is full time and fixed term for 9 months with possibility of extension subject to funding.
The closing date for applications is noon GMT time on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement and details of two referees as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
