In recent years there has been a significant increase in the workload associated with immigration compliance resulting from several new rulings and guidance updates issued by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) for Student Visa sponsors. With more changes on the horizon as a result of the 2025 White Paper, there is a greater onus on the Immigration Compliance function within the University to quickly adapt to and navigate any rule changes and ensure adherence in accordance with our ongoing Sponsor duties to UKVI.
To help us meet this demand, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Directorate of People for an Immigration Compliance Officer. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining compliance with UKVI rules and regulations. The post will be pivotal in supporting the development and enhancement of established procedures within the University and to help keep abreast of changes to immigration guidance, in addition to being responsible for supporting with the day-to-day operation of administrative duties required to protect the University’s licence to sponsor students. The postholder will also support additional duties across our International Advice and Compliance Team as required to keep pace with the evolving demands of our students and ensure we deliver an excellent service to enhance the international student experience.
The post-holder will play a proactive role in supporting the University to maintain compliance in accordance with our UKVI Student Sponsor licence responsibilities. The successful candidate will find that, due to the nature of the post, most training will be provided through gaining valuable on-the-job experience as you move through the academic cycle. The successful candidate will work closely with and provide guidance and support relating to immigration compliance to colleagues across various University departments, including but not limited to Student Support, Human Resources, Student Recruitment and Admissions, Registry and the Schools.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 (£33,002 - £36,636 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
