Three Research Associate positions are available in Prof Anthony Green’s group at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) — a world‑class, cross‑disciplinary centre bringing together more than 500 researchers across chemistry, molecular biology, biochemical engineering, synthetic biology, materials science, analytics and computational methods.
These roles aim to advance the design and engineering of enzymes with new function and drive their application in sustainable manufacturing. We’re looking for researchers with a strong foundation in enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, protein expression and mutagenesis/directed evolution, and a track record of developing innovative experimental approaches. Candidates should have, or expect to complete, a PhD (or equivalent) and have their thesis submitted before starting.
Working under the supervision of Prof Green, you’ll lead the development and optimisation of new protein design and engineering methodologies. You’ll build and evaluate libraries of redesigned enzymes, create high‑throughput screening and selection workflows, and explore diverse biocatalytic strategies to deliver highly proficient biocatalysts for a wide range of chemical transformations. You’ll collaborate closely with academic and industrial partners and contribute to research outputs across multiple projects within the Green Group.
