Job description:

Working Pattern: Full-time. 9am-5pm Monday to Friday on site. There will be some weekend commitments such as occasional Open Days and Arrivals Weekend.

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in helping students transition efficiently from home to university life. You'll have the opportunity to build and manage self-supporting communities of students, crafting a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the on site duty support role, triaging student support cases as they come into the service. Responding to support requests, allocation to relevant Student Support Manager and being the first point of contact for Security and Customer Services for wellbeing concerns and other enquiries.
  • Collaborate with Student Conduct Officers and Student Engagement & Development Coordinators to assist Residence Life Managers and the Head of Residence Life to build living-learning communities that promote student wellbeing, engagement and development.
  • Support the team to provide an outstanding welfare service to students, ensuring their well-being and success. Including supporting managers with complex cases.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure support for students, in particular through the Student Health, Wellbeing and Support teams, including Safeguarding and Welfare, Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service, University Health Service, and Dyslexia and Disability Support Services.
  • Contribute to the collection of data and feedback to assist in production of the monthly reports and decision making.
  • Requirements
  • A degree-level education.
  • Proven experience working with young adults, ideally in a residential setting, and preferably within Higher Education.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team-working capabilities and the confidence to manage various situations with initiative.
